In fact, the first time Frankie visited, she actually drove her car right underneath.
They have since closed the little portion of the road so that you cannot drive through. The reason looks to be the erosion caused from the continuous flow of water and probably tourist traffic.
We have actually visited three different waterfalls with the name, Bridal Veil, two of which are in North Carolina.
This one is definitely the smallest, but it makes up for it's deficiency in size with it's unique roadway allure and curb appeal.
Bridal Veil Falls near Highlands is located on one of our favorite highways in the Tar Heel State, U.S. Highway 64. This scenic stretch of road is teeming with rivers, mountain streams, and of course, waterfalls! Find the falls using the map below...
As we've mentioned before on other pages, on previous trips we've enjoyed both packing a lunch for our waterfall chasing adventures and sometimes enjoying the local cuisine.
In Highlands, we usually pack a lunch, but have also enjoyed sushi and hibachi from Asia House in Highlands. I think any choice from this restaurant on the mountain is a good one.
But if you're craving some great Mexican food, be sure to check out Chile Loco in Cashiers, North Carolina, which is only 20 minutes or so from Bridal Veil Falls, Highlands, NC.

There are several areas for camping in the area near the amazing waterfalls you'll find in this beautiful part of the western North Carolina mountains. Here's a Google search to get you started: Camping Nearby.
If we prefer a more "brick and mortar" place to stay, we typically start our search with Airbnb in the local area.
That being said, we loved our stay nearby at the Hotel Cashiers which is only about 20 minutes from Bridal Veil.
